I bought this elephant in Bankok, Thiailand- cost $5.00 but probably large amount in Thai money because the taxi fare from the airport - several miles - to our hotel amounted to five cents in our money so they had a high rate of exchange. I carried the elephant all over te orient - too heavy to go in a suitcase. weighs 14 pounds - made from teak wood. I think the Thais thought they really took me on the cost.

That's cool!! Thailand is one place that I REALLY want to go. Did you have a chance to visit any of the Thai beaches? For some reason Bankok sounds like a really scary city to me. (Maybe because of that song....don't know what it's called)

We spent two or three days in Thailand - took a trip up the klongs (canals) where I have movies of people washing disnes, washing their teeth and themeselves in the water. The guide said the chief cause of infant death their was not drowning - it was cobras - I have movies of King Cobras about 10 - 15 feet long in deep trenches - we were too late getting back to see them milk the cobras. The Mexicans are sissies compared to the Thais for eating hot foods.
