What did you mean when you said your ship was raised and lowered? Was it a submarine?
Not hardly - when you enter the locks the water is raised and lowered as you progress through the Isthmus to the Pacific ocean. This was just one of the many locks the ship went through.
I was here in 1988, but there for a different purpose--Air Force TDY. The next year we invaded.
