This is the Mendenhall glacier which is 12 miles north of Juneau. I wanted to get close to take a picture of the deep blue ice and asked the Rangers if it was ok - they said they could not prevent me from getting closer but said it was dangerous due to calving - but there was a deep stream I could not cross so I took pictures of the blue ice from there with a telescopic lens. Now if I could just find that slide I would send it to my blog.

Grandpa, Scott brought home some pictures he took in Alaska and I think he has one of THIS with them standing in front of it. I'll post it on my blog soon so you can see.
