This is the Mendenhall glacier which is 12 miles north of Juneau. I wanted to get close to take a picture of the deep blue ice and asked the Rangers if it was ok - they said they could not prevent me from getting closer but said it was dangerous due to calving - but there was a deep stream I could not cross so I took pictures of the blue ice from there with a telescopic lens. Now if I could just find that slide I would send it to my blog.

Helen and I are in this group with Senator Larry Pressler welcoming us. We toured the Capitol and also the surrounding area - took pictures etc.
Glad nobody pushed me or I would have got pretty wet
